I added net 0 words this past week. I edited so much that my word count didn’t increase. I’m not sure they were even necessary edits. This isn’t really writing, it’s more fussing with the text than anything else. It’s procrasti-writing: going back over what I’ve already finished and cleaning it up when I have SO MANY new scenes that need to be worked on. It typically happens when I’m out of ideas or stuck on a scene that isn’t working. That’s not the case here. It’s the old lack of motivation. I refuse to call it writer’s block. It’s writer’s loafing, writer’s ennui.
I’m currently writing this on Tuesday which means I’ve already failed to post the blog on Sunday as usual. All my good intentions are slipping down the hill. I’ll need to dig my heels in in the days ahead or I’ll end up at the bottom, on my backside, with random chapters and a mess of a novel I’ll shelve yet again. That’s not an acceptable place to be since this WIP is the best start I’ve had in a while and it’s 28k along. I’m making a promise to myself to pull myself together and get back on track. See you next week. 🙂
